Top 10 English Errors my Students Make (PART 5)

Hello and welcome to my "Part 5" on this topic, "Top 10 English Errors my Students Make". Let me review what I have talked about on the first & second part.

สวัสดีและยินดีต้อนรับสู่บทความตอนที่ 4 ที่เตื้องได้พูดถึงเรื่องข้อผิดพลาดในการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษของนักเรียนเตื้องนะคะ ก่อนอื่นมาดูกันหน่อยดีกว่าว่าเตื้องได้พูดถึงอะไรไปบ้างแล้วนะคะ 

PART 1
1. Not adding “-s” to third person singular in the present simple. 

ไม่ยอมเติม “s” กันหลังกิริยา เมื่อประธานเป็นบุคคลที่ 3 เอกพจน์ ในเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดในปัจจุบัน     

2. Using “verb to be or is, am,are” with “verb”, this means that we use double verbs in a sentence.

ใช้กิริยาแท้ซ้ำกัน 2 ครั้ง โดยมีทั้ง “verb to be” หรือ “is, am, are”  ซึ่งก็เป็นกิริยาแท้ด้วยเหมือนกัน มาอยู่กับกิริยาแท้ช่องที่ 1 อีกตัวหนึ่งด้วยกันในหนึ่งประโยค

PART 2
3. Using "verb to do" or "do/does/did" with "v.ing" which means that you got mixed up with Simple Tense and Continuous Tense

การใช้คำกิริยา “verb to do” หรือ "do/does/did" กับ กิริยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย -ing ซึ่งหมายความว่าคุณกำลังสับสนใช้ปนกันไปหมดกับการใช้ tense ระหว่าง "Simple Tense" และ "Continuous Tense"

4. Adjective with “-d” and "-ing" to describe feelings and things. Most of my students got mixed up. 

การใช้คำคุณศัพท์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย “-d” และ "-ing" เพื่อที่จะอธิบายถึงความรู้สึกและสิ่งต่างๆ นักเรียนส่วนใหญ่ของเตื้องก็จะใช้มันมั่วไปหมดสลับไปสลับมา

5. In trend "อินเทรนด์" = trendy, fashionable  
"in trend" ซึ่งจริงๆ ความหมายก็คือ ทันสมัย หรือ trendy ไม่ก็ fashionable นี่แหละคะ จริงๆแล้วมันก็ค่อนข้างจะฮิตในเมืองไทยนะคะ
6. Do vs Make
มันแปลว่า "ทำ" ทั้งคู่ แต่ใช้ต่างกันอย่างไรน้อ

7. Live vs Stay

LIVE

In this context to live is a verb. If someone lives somewhere they are a permanent resident of that place.

For example:-
Where do you live? = What is your current address / country of residence.
When I was younger I lived in Scotland, but now I am living in Germany.





STAY

To stay is also a verb, but in this context if you stay somewhere it is temporary.

For example:

Where did you stay while you were at the conference?
When I first moved to Scotland I stayed with friends until I found a place to live.

Note - Try not to get confused between the verb to live (rhymes with give) and the adjective / adverb live (rhymes with hive).
